riverlvl covers 250 gauges chosen because people search for them. There are roughly 11,000 more. If a stretch you care about is missing, send the river, the nearest town, and the USGS site number if you know it — adding one is a two-minute job.
Report an error
If a reading looks wrong, a town name is off, or a link is broken, tell me which page and what looks wrong. Readings themselves come straight from USGS and NWS and are provisional; if the gauge is wrong, the fix is upstream, but riverlvl can flag or drop it.

Where the data comes from
Streamflow and gage height are public-domain data from the U.S. Geological Survey. Flood categories, stage-by-stage impact statements, historical crests and forecasts are public-domain data from the NOAA / National Weather Service National Water Prediction Service. Seasonal medians come from the USGS daily statistics service.
riverlvl is not an official source. The plain-English summaries are generated by rule from those published numbers. They are not forecasts, not warnings, and not safety assessments. For official river forecasts and flood warnings, use water.noaa.gov and weather.gov.
